>> You should assume that I have an affiliate relationship and/or another material connection, to any suppliers of goods and services that may be discussed here, and may be compensated for showing ads or recommending products or services, or linking to the supplier's website. That means if you make a purchase, I get paid a few bucks to support my fancy coffee habit. :)

Now that you have WordPress installed, it's time to take it up a notch by installing the 10 best website plugins for WordPress.

What Is A Plugin?

A WordPress plugin allows you to extend the functionality of or add new features to your WordPress website.

There are thousands upon thousands of plugins to choose from and it can be really tempting to go overboard and install a lot of really cool plugins.

Don't do that. ūüôā

Rather, stick with no more than 15-20 highly functional plugins.

I have personally used and recommended a number of plugins over the years and have found the following list of 10 best website plugins to cover a wide range of your WordPress website needs.

10 Best Website Plugins For WordPress

  1. BeaverBuilder
  2. ConvertKit
  3. YoastSEO
  4. Jetpack
  5. Ninja Forms
  6. Social Warfare
  7. WooCommerce
  8. GeneratePress
  9. Akismet
  10. AMP

1 | BeaverBuilder

Page Builder:  The BeaverBuilder Premium WordPress plugin is a GAME CHANGER. This mighty plugin makes designing WordPress pages and posts a cinch with a super simple drag and drop page builder.

I cannot stress enough how amazingly awesome and easy to use the BeaverBuilder plugin is.

Simply install the plugin and you are on your way to creating amazing website pages and blog posts.

Pro Tip: BeaverBuilder is also a WordPress theme; however, you do not need to have the BeaverBuilder theme installed in order to use the BeaverBuilder plugins. They are compatible with many WordPress themes including my fave theme, GeneratePress.

2 | ConvertKit

Email Marketing:  ConvertKit is a robust email marketing system for serious bloggers and online business owners who want to grow their business and make sales on autopilot.

The ConvertKit plugin makes it easy to add opt-in boxes and landing pages on your WordPress website.

3 | YoastSEO

SEO:  If you want your WordPress website to rank in organic search results then the YoastSEO plugin is a MUST HAVE.

This helpful little plugin walks you through every step of your website SEO including: keyword optimization, readability check, no duplicate content, and a whole lot of techie stuff. Plus, the peeps over at Yoast know a whole lot about SEO and send lots of helpful info in their weekly emails.

4 | Jetpack

With the Jetpack plugin it's like celebrating your birthday everyday...you get design, traffic growth, security, and visitor engagement tools all in one handy dandy plugin. Seriously, you won't believe it until you see it.

Pro-Tip: You can use JetPack to add and organize Testimonial and Portfolio pages on your WordPress website.

5 | Ninja Forms

Contact Forms:  Ninja Forms is a free plugin that allows you to build custom contact forms in a jiffy. You can easily place a Ninja Form anywhere on your site with a widget, shortcode, template function, or append it automatically to any content you choose.

6 | Social Warfare

Social Sharing:  Want beautiful and lightening fast social sharing buttons? Look no further than Social Warfare.

Here are just a few reasons why: the buttons are responsive and look good on mobile devices, you can customize the shared content, hide Pinterest images on the page, add click-to-tweet, and it's blazing fast.

7 | WooCommerce

Ecommerce: Ready to set up shop on your WordPress site? Whether you want to sell physical products, downloads, subscriptions or affiliate products, you will want to get started ASAP with WooCommerce and turn your website into a money-making machine.

The WooCommerce plugin is free and integrates with PayPal making it super simple to accept payments online. You only pay a small percentage of your sale to PayPal or the payment processor of your choice when someone makes a purchase.

Pro-Tip: Use the WooCommerce plugin with the GeneratePress theme and BuilderBeaver Premium plugin for a clean and easy to organize online shop! Want to see all three in action? Check out my shop here.

8 | GeneratePress

WordPress Theme Add-Ons:  Extend the function of the free GeneratePress WordPress theme with this amazing plugin.

I've said it before and I can say it again here: I heart the GeneratePress WordPress theme. It is blazing fast and light and comes power packed with a ton of customizable options.

The GeneratePress plugin adds so many options to customize the free theme including backgrounds, page headers, colors, typography, and much more.

Pro-Tip: You must first install and activate the GeneratePress WordPress theme. The GeneratePress Premium plugin is available for $39.95 and adds a ton of functionality to the free theme.

9 | Akismet

Spam Filter:  Say goodbye to spam comments with the free Akismet plugin. Your site is fully configured and protected 24 / 7. This is one of the best ways to protect your website from spam comments.

Pro Tip: Once you activate the plugin, be sure to sign up for and enter your API key to put the plugin to work.

10 | AMP

Accelerated Mobile Pages Project:  The AMP plugin adds support for the Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) Project. The AMP project is designed to provide mobile optimized content that can load almost instantly.

While this is a fairly new initiative, I have added it to the list since Google takes into account AMP pages for mobile search.

Pro Tip: In addition to AMP, I also installed the Glue for Yoast SEO & AMP plugin. This is to ensure the WordPress AMP plugin uses the proper Yoast SEO metadata. So far so good!
