HOW TO CHOOSE A DOMAIN NAME

You will learn my super simple process for choosing a domain name as well as where and how to purchase your domain.

1. BRAINSTORM DOMAIN NAMES

Let's begin by brainstorming a list of possible domain names.

My top THREE tips for choosing your domain name are: 

1. Keep it simple
2. Use keywords
3. Make it memorable

First, keep it simple.

If your domain name is too long, hard to spell and not easy to remember it will make it harder for people to find you online.

Use keywords related to your business name, product, brand or niche.

And third, make your domain name memorable.

START TAKING ACTION NOW

In the space provided on page 05 of your Quick Start Guide, make a list of domain names that you like.

2. RESEARCH DOMAIN NAMES

Once you have compiled a list of potential domain names, it’s time to do some research and see which ones are available.

Now is the moment of truth.

You made a list of potential domain names; it’s time to find out if any of your potential domain names are available.

CLICK HERE to use GoDaddy's domain name search tool; enter your desired domain name in the search bar.

You will quickly find out if the domain name you like is available to register or not.

If your name is already taken, you will be given alternate versions to consider.

• IS YOUR DOMAIN NAME AVAILABLE? perform a
  search using GoDaddy.com’s domain name database.
  -> If YES, continue. If NO, cross this name off your list.
• IS IT COPYRIGHTED OR TRADEMARKED? perform a
  search at the trademark website database in your country.
  -> If NO, continue. If YES, cross this name off your list.
• DOES IT SHOW UP IN GOOGLE SEARCH? type the
  name into Google’s search bar and see how it shows up. (for example, is it being used by someone in the same industry)
  -> If NO, continue. If YES, you may want to cross it off the list.
• IS IT AVAILABLE ON SOCIAL? search your favorite
  social media sites to see if your name is available.
  -> If YES, circle it! This domain name made the cut!

PRO TIP: The .com extension is the most popular and common domain name extension.

I believe it is still a good idea to find an available .com that meets all of the criteria listed above.

Here are just a few other domain extensions that are available:

.co: an abbreviation for company, commerce, and community.

.info:  informational sites

.net:  technical, Internet infrastructure sites.

.org: non-commercial organizations and nonprofits.

.biz: business or commercial use,

.me: blogs, resumes or personal sites.

You don’t need to purchase every extension of your name.

If you decide to purchase any of the other domain name extensions, you can set up domain forwarding to send these domains to your primary .com.

Go through your entire list of domain names.

If the domain name is available, put a circle around it.

If the domain name is not available, cross it off.

3. REGISTER YOUR DOMAIN NAME

Use the tips outlined below to help you purchase your domain name.

By the end of this tutorial, you will have learned how to choose a domain name for your website and buy your domain on GoDaddy for 99 CENTS.

Here's how to buy your domain on GoDaddy:

1. GO TO GODADDY

CLICK HERE to use GoDaddy's domain name search tool; enter your desired domain name in the search bar.

Be sure to open up an incognito browser first, copy and paste this web page into the browser, then click on the link above and the 99 CENT GoDaddy domain promo will be automatically applied to your order when you checkout.

2. ENTER YOUR DOMAIN NAME

Enter your domain name into GoDaddy's domain name search bar and click the search icon.

3. CLICK ADD TO CART

Click the ADD TO CART button next to the domain name(s) that you would like to purchase.

4. SELECT PRIVACY PROTECTION

Mark the check box next to PRIVACY PROTECTION to add that to your order.

5. CLICK CONTINUE TO CART

Click on the CONTINUE TO CART button.

Make sure that you have selected 1 YEAR in order for the 99 cent domain to be applied.

6. COMPLETE CHECKOUT

Scroll down and click on COMPLETE CHECKOUT.

That's it!

The domain name is all yours!
